NYJPW New College Point Arts & Cultural Center Grand Opening

After overcame the ovarian cancer (big operation on 12/13/04), Penny Wang greatly appreciates the Hackensack University Medical Center and John Wang's special caring treaments to help her went through a fast recovery. Penny has completed her 6 times chemotherapy and now back to work on the normal schedule. John & Penny Wang especially thank God's Blessing and Giving. John & Penny want to devote more effort to promote the Chinese Arts and Culture to the community.
John & Penny Wang are happily to invite you join NYJPW new Arts & Cultural Center Grand Opening on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 2 PM at 15-32 College Point Boulevard, College Point, New York. This Arts Center is privately sponsored by John & Penny Wang. Their goal is to promote the Chinese Arts & Culture in the local community. On the grand opening day, the program started with the Lion Dance performed by Bergen Chinese School that was directored by Henry Lee. The beautiful costumes and lovely performers have tried all their effort to perform the lion outside the building under the rain and inside the building to the appreciative audience. Their professional work was enjoyed by adults and kids. The master of ceremony and usher were conducted by John & Penny's daughter and son, Jennifer Helen and Jon Michael Wang. The program started with the presentation of NYJPW Gold Star Awards to four extraordinary artists who have contributed their expertises to the American society:
(1) Industrialist Thomas Chen, (2) Writer Susie Chao, (3) Historian Dr. Brenadatte Yu Ning LI and (4) Composer Bright Sheng.
It was in deed a lovely gala on the grand opening celebration. Everyone was so happy and John & Penny certainly made every participates felt at home. It was a happy reunion for John & Penny and their dearest old friends, some had more then 60 years friendship from Japay.
Penny Cheng-Hua Wang gave a brief opening remark to talk about NYJPW's initiates, the hard work that John & Penny went through for the renovation of the building, and the idea to provide the facility as Arts Center for the community. Following Penny's opening remark, Ambassador Li Yen Hsia, New York State Assemblyman Jimmy Meng have congratulated the grand opening of the center and sent their best wishes to John & Penny for their contribution to the community. John & Penny wanted to promote the new immigranted artists and help them to present their talent specialty. John & Penny want to develop Chinese Arts and Culture to school so that the young Americans can enjoy the flavor of the arts and appreciate the culture.
After the opening remarks, the classical Chinese ribbon dance and kung fu fan were performed by New York Chinese School students Dorian Falcone and Jackie Miranda, who were taught by Ms. Wen Jiuan Yee. Then presented the Chinese Opera dvd 'The Orphan of Zhao' that was produced by NYJPW at Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall on September 19, 2003.
